The Birthplace of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)...
In early August 1801 as many as 20,000 to 30,000 people gathered at Cane Ridge Meeting House in Bourbon County, Kentucky, for a revival that became the defining event of the late 18th and early 19th century Western Great Revival.
McMinnville Covenant Church has begun a FREE supper ministry open to the community. Each Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. we will serve a healthy meal consisting of a soup or stew, bread and fruit or veggie. This meal is FREE and open to anyone in the community. If you have any questions please contact the church office at (503) 472-9021.
CROP Hunger Walk supports the interdenominational and international work of Church World Service to provide disaster and long term recovery aid where needed. One forth of the money raised will stay here in Yamhill County to help meet the needs locally. This year, The Salvation Army will be receiving these funds.
CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide--and right here in the U.S.--to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow. Each year some two million CROP Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors put their hearts and soles in motion, raising over $14 million per year to help end hunger and poverty around the world--and in their own communities. And you are part of it!
City Outreach is a ministry of the McMinnville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to the people of Yamhill County. We are located in the lower level of the church facility in McMinnville - where we receive donations of clothing, furniture, household and personal items. These goods are donated by caring people and organizations, sorted by our volunteer staff, then given to Yamhill County residents who are in need.
The Yamhill County Gospel Rescue Mission (YCGRM) is a non-profit 501(c)3 Christian organization founded in 2004 by a small group that saw a need for emergency shelter in Yamhill County. The heart and mission of YCGRM is to provide food, shelter, and hope for the soul through the love of Jesus Christ.
The Soup Kitchen has been a reliable source of food for the hungry and has never waivered from its mission to unconditionally feed the hungry in our community. The service has grown to meet the needs of those we serve. The Soup Kitchem now provides meals four days a week. The daily meals served averages around 156, and the monthly meals served ranges from 2,218 to over 3,000 meals.
Every Saturday at 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., a dinner is served in Calvin Hall to those who need a meal or need the fellowship provided by sharing a meal. Please call the church office for more information or if you would be interested in helping with this valuable service. 503-472-6256
